HISTORY

Our Club was founded in 1990 and has been affiliated to the Southern Football Association after being established as a competitive team in 1991. Borne out of the Skinner Park based Stallions fete match team, which at the time possessed a wealth of young talent desirous of a more challenging arena. A challenge initially taken up by Mr. Shastri Maharaj of Southern Supplies Limited and presently since our inception by Mr. Eddison Dean of Dean’s Coatings Ltd.

Since that time, our accolades included many top place finishing. Including the Most Goals Scored (1997).The 2003 football season was our most successful year, winning all the competitions and trophies offered in the zone.
In 2004, we played in the National Super League. A competition which to date highlights the best semi professional football teams nationwide. Our Club returned to the Zone for the next two (2) seasons where our run of success and dominance had continued.

Copping the League Champion title in 2006 and returning to the Super League in 2007.

This brief history would not be complete without favorable mention of the coaches of our Club throughout the years. Mr. Azard Ramjohn, Mr. Sterlin Parris, Mr. Jan Steadman, Mr. Kenneth Mason, Mr. Muhammad Isa and the many player coaches.

The few names listed below complete this history. They thoroughly deserve more than just favorable mention as past players. Our first captain was Eddison Dean. Outstanding players included Derek and Kevin Lange, Sean and Dion Steele, Colin Radhay, Terrance Ramoutar, Kevin and Robert Ollivierra, Curtis Perry, Troy Berkley, Damiean Walker, Jason Gopaul, Edson Landeau, Dexter Franklyn, Calvin Hughes, Jason Troman, Gerard Assiverro, Kerry and Lyndon Atwell, Roger George, David Arbuckle, Kent Collins, Ronnie Forbes.

This is a living history report which continues to be written. As such mention must be made of Anthony Streete (Head Coach 2012-2015/16) who successfully took the Club from the National Super League to the Professional League. Some of the players who made great contributions to this transition both on and off the field of play include Teba McKnight, Anthony Parris, Kern Cupid, Kemuel Rivers and Jesse Downing.

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME

Club Sando Youth development program started in 2008 when the National Super League introduced a Youth program to assist clubs with its structure. It was felt that some clubs only had a Senior team and wasn’t giving back to the Community by way of the developing the youths within their surroundings or environment.

The initial year saw Club Sando compete in one age groups, U16 and finished 8th place in a 10 team table.

In 2009 the competition catered for two divisions u15 & u17. At the end of the season we finished 5th & 4th while not totally satisfied the coaches felt it was a great improvement to the previous season. Other teams included W.A.S.A F.C., Joe Public F.C., Santa Rosa F.C., Harvard F.C., Queens Park C.C., 1976 Pheonix F.C. – Tobago, Harlem Strikers, Point Fortin Civic Centre.

2010 was the defining moment for the Club, with three age groups u14 / u16 / u18, very limited resources we were able to complete the season as 2nd place champs in all three divisions. With this type of success in 2011 saw a massive exodus of players to other entities, but the Coaches were not daunted by this as the recruitment brought new players into the fold and kept the flag flying for Club Sando.

In 2011 we also lost one of our players from the u18 team of 2010, Kristopher “Tazzo” Gordon died of a massive heart attack on 29/05/11, each year his teammates will meet on 30/05 to remember him with a memorial match against players from his community.

While success wasn’t great in 2011, u17 finished 2nd and u15 finished 4th that year 2012 saw the final year of the National Super League youth program but not the end of Club Sando and while we would have lost a number of players because of this and no succession planning the Coaches  continued to work tirelessly to keep the flag of Club Sando going, participating in the SFA Youth program with success, tours, etc. Also in 2012 the Coaches decided to start a Senior team to participate in the SFA Petrotrin Super League in an effort to keep the players and use it as a stepping stone for the Super League senior team. While we are still in the embyro stage with this project, it is also bearing fruit. Three young players were sent to the Senior team training for trials and made a great impression on the technical staff, unfortunately we lost one of those players in 2014, Marcus “Fish” Lawrence.

In 2015 we joined the TTPro League.
